Parents with mobility impairments who use wheelchairs often face numerous constraints when going out with their infants in strollers. OURHOUR reinterprets these constraints as unique interactions and addresses them with a new mobility solution that is a wheelchair that combines baby seat modules
Difficulty in driving controls
It is challenging to handle both a wheelchair and a stroller with wheels at the same time, making it difficult to navigate narrow paths or walkways.
Difficulty in emotional interactions
Parents with physical disabilities may experience heightened sensitivity and anxiety about safety, which can make it challenging to interact with their children.
Difficulty in in changing baby’s position
It can be challenging to transport the child into a stroller or a car seat, as well as move the child from one location to another.
We focused on interactions that were unique to them, such as having a child sit on their lap and interacting at close range.
Their unique interaction was incorporated into the design, connecting the baby seat modules with an arm to not only solve the physical constraints but also enable closer interaction.
OURHOUR is a combination of two circles, representing a parent's wheelchair and a baby or stroller. The large O embracing the small O is meant to resemble a parent embracing a child. The symbol also resembles a clock, marking the precious time that makes up part of the day.
Compact size
It has a small volume and is much smaller than a regular power wheelchair, allowing for safe transportation.
Safe driving
The omni-wheel provides a small turning radius, and the automatic brake system keeps you safe.
Easy combining
The infant seat locks in place with a single click, making it easy and simple to combine.
Intimate distance
The combination of the wheelchair and the stroller closes not only the physical distance between the two, but also the psychological distance. The arms at the base of the chair adjust in length from front to back, with careful attention to detail to avoid overlapping the range of motion of the user's arms and legs.
Lovely eye-contact
The combination of the wheelchair and the stroller closes not only the physical distance between the two, but also the psychological distance. The arms at the base of the chair adjust in length from front to back, with careful attention to detail to avoid overlapping the range of motion of the user's arms and legs.
Natural physical affection
Physical Human-Robot Interaction (PHRI) technology, a new engineering technology used in robots, allows for easy positioning with little effort.
With a Wheelchair
Our baby seat attaches to the wheelchair arm of the parent's mode of transportation. This enables users with mobility impairments to safely travel with their child wherever they need to go.
As a Stroller
If you need a standalone stroller, attach it to the stroller module.
As a Car Seat
When traveling in a vehicle, it can be attached to a car seat.
OURHOUR is a product that breaks the stereotype that 'parents with retardation are difficult to raise children' and emphasizes their love, contributing to a society where it is easier to raise children with disabilities.
